Hello there, Do you test for orexin or hypocretin levels?

“hypocretin-1” and “hypocretin-2”  were found only in the hypothalamus  .The hypothalamus, a region localized deep in the base of the brain, regulates many basic functions such as the release of hormones, blood pressure, sex, food intake regulation and sleep.

Hypocretin-1 (but not 2) can be measured in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) but not in the blood or in any other peripheral tissue. A lumbar puncture is required to collect CSF. Most patients with narcolepsy-cataplexy have no hypocretin-1 molecules in their CSF. Unfortunately, this testing is not commercially available

My cardiologist has advised to get sleep study done. Please inform fee and duration. Thanks.

sleep testing may cost from 1000 AED to 7000 AED depends on the type of sleep test and it is usually overnight test (either in sleep center and your home).

I have been suffering with sleep attacks for a while now and its getting really embarrassing

Cataplexy: It is emotionally triggered transient muscle weakness. The muscle weakness is often partial, affecting the face, neck, and knees. Severe episodes can induce bilateral weakness or paralysis, causing the patient to collapse. Consciousness remains intact during cataplexy, and the weakness usually resolve in less than two minutes
